2022-23 Grant Award Highlights
“POWER THROUGH RESISTANCE”- MS GIRLS’ ATHLETICS - MS. FARRIS & MS. YOUNG
Our girls' athletics program at Curtis Inge Middle School needed some additional equipment for their physical education program! Healthy and active kids are an important component of overall academic wellness. Physical activity is linked to higher academic performance, better health, and improved behavior.
Thank you to Ms. Farris and Ms. Young for building health minds and bodies!
“FLEXIBLE SEATING” - 2ND GRADE, MS. WEBSTER
Flexible seating allows kids to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain and blood flow, helping keep young minds more alert and focused.
Thank you Ms. Webster for submitting this innovative grant proposal!
“Picture the fun” - Ms. robertson’s title 1 reading program
Literacy skills are critical to education since they influence students’ abilities to learn about challenging topics, communicate thoughtfully and retain information. Ms. Robertson and her Title 1 Reading classroom play a crucial role in helping Hubbard students fully develop these skills. When educators create an environment where literacy is a priority, students are empowered to become engaged learners.
Thank you Ms. Robertson for all you do to help improve literacy and the love of reading for our Hubbard kiddos!
"WEAR & TEAR, HELP ME BEARS!" - 1st grade, MS. DOUMA
Ms. Douma's class needed updating and replacment for several everyday items they use for learning. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to get these items up-to-date and help keep the learning on track for 1st grade.
Thank you Ms. Douma for being AWESOME!
"FLEX THIS!" - 3rd Grade, Ms. Gates
Flex seating sharpens higher order thinking skills, like emotional and problem-solving skills and conflict resolution. This new approach to seating allows students to quickly and easily pair up, work in small groups, or discuss as a whole class – without moving mountains of heavy desks. Creative seating allows Ms. Gates' 3rd grade classroom environment to be conducive to open collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking.
Thank you Ms. Gates for allowing us the opportunity to support this grant!
"ACCELERATED SUCCESS WTIH READ-N-QUIZ" - 2nd grade, Ms. Wright
Learning environments that promote literacy not only help students become proficient in reading and writing, it also helps them understand and gain other forms of literacy, including digital, media, health and more.
Thank you Ms. Wright for giving us the opportunity to help promote health literacy with Hubbard 2nd graders!
"SHELFIE ABSORBED" - Ms. Hill's NHS Library
Vibrant school libraries are linked to other important indicators of student success, including graduation rates and mastery of academic standards. Multiple studies have found that academic outcomes are higher in schools where librarians are supported and their libraries are equipped with robust content and engaging resources for kids.
Thank you Ms. Hill for going above and beyond to create a welcoming and engaging library for our high school students!
"CHOICES FOR LEADERSHIP" - Ms. Tabor's HS Social Studies & Leadership
The reality is that very few successful leaders are actually born that way. Instead, they use life experiences combined with their own pursuit of knowledge to grow and develop into an effective leader. Student leadership is no different. Many students are not naturally aware of everything that being a leader entails. Nor do they know what makes a positive and effective leader, not just someone that people blindly follow. While they could wait to learn how to be a leader until they move into the corporate world, having student leadership experiences in school gives them a head start, providing confidence in themselves, their abilities, and the skills they’ve acquired that will help them work effectively with others.
Thank you Ms. Tabor for all you do to invest in the future leaders of our community, state, and nation!
"CALCULATION REQUIRED" - Mr. Peterman - HS Mathematics
Advanced mathematics builds problem-solving and critical thinking skills important for success in college and career. We are excited to have been able to provide much needed replacement calculators for our high school students in advanced mathematics courses!
Thank you Mr. Peterman for allowing us the opportunity to support your mathematics curriculum!
